LAHORE: The West Pakistan Governor, Mr Mohammad Musa, today [Nov 13] appealed to the people of West Pakistan to extend full co-operation to the Government in controlling the existing agitation in the province. “In this lies their own good and the good of the country,” the Governor said in a special Radio broadcast this afternoon.

The Governor, who went on the air after Mr Z.A. Bhutto and some other political leaders had been arrested earlier in the day, said there was a limit to everything. These political leaders tried to disrupt the law and order as well as the administration of the province with one blow. Now that the ring leaders of this movement of lawlessness had been arrested, “I want to make it clear that if the supporters and companions of these persons try to break the law, severe action will be taken against them,” Mr Musa said.

Mr Musa said that the ring leaders had created so much commotion among the people that the life and property of the common man was jeopardised. But God the Almighty be thanked that their unholy designs were unsuccessful, he said.

He said the Government acted with great restraint, because it desired to uphold democratic values.
