GILGIT: The Gilgit-Baltistan Anti-Terrorism Court on Friday sent on judicial remand 10 traders, including Pakistan Peoples Party lawmaker Javed Hussain, for ransacking the Sost dry port.

The traders had allegedly tried to take their imported consignments away without customs clearance at Sost dry port. When they were stopped, they turned violent and ransacked the dry port at the Khunjerab pass.

Six FIRs had been registered at the Sost police station against the accused under various acts, including the ATA, in Sept this year.

The police said the accused had obtained pre-arrest bail from a court, but they surrendered to the police on Friday.

After arrest the police presented them before the ATC Judge Raja Shahbaz Khan, who sent them to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.

The accused are PPP leader Javed Hussain, who is also member of GBLA and traders Haji Ismail, Ali Haider, Manzoor Hussain, Syed Shahzad Hussain, Irfan Haidar, Ramzan Ali, Hajat Hussain, Mohammad Iqbal and Mohammad Askari.
