SIALKOT, June 20: Public in general and builders in particular have expressed concern over increase in the cement price during the last over a month. The price which was around Rs240 per bag a couple of months ago is now above Rs300, ‘affecting’ the construction activity in the district.
A number of builders who signed construction projects when the cement was easily available at Rs240 per bag are sustaining losses. In some cases, they have suspended work in an anticipation that the price will come down.
GUJRANWALA: Contractors have demanded that their contracts should be revised in proportion to the present price hike.
At a meeting of the Building Contractors Association here on Monday, the participants said when they got contracts, the price of a cement bag was Rs225 which had now increased to Rs325. The prices of other building materials had also increased.
The citizens council has also expressed concern at the increase in the cement price and the building material.
They said the government had failed to check the price hike, and the cement dealers and factory owners were fleecing the general public. They demanded that the cement price should be brought down immediately.
