KARACHI: An 80-year-old woman was poisoned to death allegedly by her former house servants in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Friday, who also took away goods and other valuables from the home, police said.

They added that Raeesa Begum, 80, and her daughter Rukhsana, 50, were found lying unconscious inside their home in Block-13.

They were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where the mother died during treatment, said additional police surgeon Dr Saleem Shaikh.

Gulshan SP Ghulam Murtaza Bhutto while quoting the deceased’s daughter, Rukhsana, who regained consciousness at the hospital, said that their former employee couple visited them on Thursday night.

The couple laced the tea with some poisonous substance or tranquiliser which they took and fell unconscious, Ms Rukhsana told the police.
