HYDERABAD, June 20: Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Ali Ashraf Shah on Monday extended for seven days the remand of MPA Zahid Ali Bhurgari in police custody in an explosive substance act case. The MPA was produced in the court on Monday amid tight security.

Officials of the Amri investigation police submitted an application, seeking more remand of the MPA for interrogation.

The court accepted the application and remanded MPA to police custody.

Mr Bhurgari was arrested on June 12 by the A-section police led by Inspector Ayub Durrani.

He was shown arrested by the Amri police on June 13 at 4:00am in two successive bomb explosions on transmission lines in Jamshoro district.

His bail application was rejected by the ATC judge in the case.

Meanwhile, the second additional district Judge on Monday granted pre-arrest bail to seven activists and office-bearers of the PPP in a rioting case in a sum of Rs50,000 each.

They were represented by Allah Bachayo Soomro, advocate.

The cantonment police lodged a case on June 16 against 9-activists and office-bearers of PPP including city chapter general secretary and 35 other party workers following their rally outside the press club earlier in the day against arrest of party MPA Zahid Bhurgari.
