KOHAT: Police foiled a terrorism bid by seizing 23 kilogrammes of explosive material and arrested two alleged terrorists on intelligence-based operation in Kaghazai here on Thursday.

The cantonment police received a tip that some terrorists were planning to target a sensitive location for which they had gathered in a house in Kaghazai. A team headed by DSP Raza Khan cordoned off the area and during raid on the house found explosives, nails, daggers, detonators, and remote control system along with23 kilogrammes of explosive material.

The alleged terrorists were identified as Gul Nawaz of Kaghazai and Nazeer Khan of Darra Adamkhel. They were taken to an unknown location for interrogation after registration of case. Meanwhile, the Lachi police seized 50,000 litres of crude oil being smuggled from Karak and Shakardarra on the Indus Highway and arrested two carriers here on Thursday.

The oil was taken to Attock oil refinery. The carriers Liaquat Ali from Attock and Zaheer Khan of Charsadda were arrested and the tanker was confiscated.

They were taken to the police station where interrogations had been started.
