KARACHI, June 20: The week got off to a sizzling start when temperatures rose to over 38 degrees Centigrade, making Monday the hottest day of the month.
A spokesman for the Pakistan Meteorological Department said temperatures ranged between 38.8 and 29 degrees Centigrade on Monday. He added that humidity level stood at 62 per cent.
The Met office spokesman said there were chances of rain/dust storm/thunderstorm on Tuesday.
But chief meteorologist Arif Mehmood said that Karachi would not receive monsoon showers in the near future.
“A low-pressure area has developed in the north-east of the Arabian sea. It will move westward and under its influence winds at sea and along the coast may blow from west to south-west at 25-30 knots gusting to 40 knots. And which is why I say that the south-eastern coastal area of Sindh – that is to say, Thatta and Badin — might experience light to moderate showers during the next 48 hours,” he explained.
