KARACHI, June 20: Sindh Planning and Development Minister Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari on Monday laid the foundation stone of sewerage scheme sponsored by MPA Bilquees Mukhtar under MPA’s Priority Programme in Arafat Town of North Nazimabad. The scheme envisages the laying and replacement of 3,000-feet-long and 8-inch-dia pipe; 100-feet-long and 10-inch-dia pipe; 3000-feet-long and 12-inch-dia pipe; 800-feet-long and 14-inch-dia pipe; and 500-feet-long and 18-inch-dia pipeline.

The scheme, which will cost Rs3.8 million, will be completed in six months.

Speaking on the occasion, Shoaib Bukhari said that sewerage lines in Arafat and Batha towns are 30 to 35 years old and had outlived their life as a result accumulated sewerage water was causing insanitation. He said that the scheme would cover the area of Nusrat Colony as well where sewerage system had become worse.

He said the scheme would help provide a healthy environment to the residents of Arafat Town, Batha Town and Nusrat Bhutto Colony.

The minister asked engineers to get this scheme completed by using their professional capabilities so that residents may not have to face any such problem for long.

MPA Bilquees Mukhtar said that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement carried out development schemes not as a showpiece nor believed in publicity and banner mongering but conceived such schemes which could benefit the people directly so that their basic requirements could be fulfilled.
