QUETTA: The Drug and Narcotics Educational Services for Humanity (Danesh) Balochistan, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), with the support of Unicef, on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Secondary of Education Department, Balochistan, for promotion of child rights and creating child protection awareness in schoolteachers, students and parents.
Speaking on the occasion, secretary of education department Noorul Haq Baloch said that his department had been making rigorous efforts to promote education in Balochistan.
He said that keeping in view the current child protection scenario and in accordance with the Balochistan Child Protection Act, 2016, there was dire need to educate parents, teachers and children about child rights and their protection issues.
At the MoU signing ceremony, executive director of Danesh Rubina Anwar explained aims, objectives and expected outcome of the project.
She said that initially 30 schools would be focused in Quetta, Pishin and Killa Abdullah districts.
The project’s activities include establishing child clubs, friendly spaces for children and organising and observing Universal Children’s Day.
