Malaysia to curb imports of plastic waste

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia is taking steps to limit imports of plastic waste, which has flooded the country since China stopped taking in foreign scrap for recycling, housing minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said on Friday.
The Southeast Asian nation will phase out imports of all types of plastic – including “clean” plastic – in three years, the minister said. Malaysia has become the top destination for plastic waste exporters such as the United States and Britain, having received nearly half a million tonnes from its top 10 source-countries between January and July.

Several papers have been published in technical journals this century about mixing waste plastic with cement to make a lightweight structural material in building, This can be used to replace the heavy concrete bricks used in non-loadbearing walls in single or two storey buildings. Seventy years ago, cement mixed with straw was used in Lahore for this purpose, an example being the walls of lecture theaters in Forman College at that time. The low weight and insulating properties of such a composite material would be enhanced by allowing air trapped in bottles and bags to remain without shredding or granulating the plastic, making it more useful in hot and earthquake prone countries such as Pakistan and Malaysia. Another potential use would be in mass produced and or prefabricated low income housing schemes planned by the PTI government.

@Farooq .but pti didnt plan it for the poor.you will have to pay for it and poor dont have any money to pay for it.its for the middle class and the rich
