Nawaz's lawyer seeks to move court against information minister

Nawaz Sharif's lawyers Khawaja Haris and Zubair Khalid on Friday asked Accountability Judge Arshad Malik to take notice of Minister of Information Fawad Chaudhry's remarks on the Hill Metal Establishment case, in which the minister had stated that Nawaz Sharif "would go to prison again".
At the outset of today's hearing on the references against Nawaz, Haris said that the court should take action against "the minister giving statements about you [the court] and Nawaz Sharif's arrest. This falls in your jurisdiction and you should take action against it."
He added: "If action is not taken against this, it would create problems for the court."
To this, Judge Malik said: "Was Chaudhry's statement general or was it a statement specifically targeting the court?"
He also told Haris and Khalid to file a written petition in court and attach a clipping of the news report that contains the said statement.
Speaking on Geo News programme 'Capital Talk' on Thursday, Chaudhry had said that everyone knows the facts of the Hill Metal Establishment case and that Nawaz Sharif will "definitely go to prison again".
Today, after Haris and Khalid's remarks in court were reported, Chaudhry tweeted from his official account and said: "Had Khawaja Haris is a senior lawyer, and had he not taken millions in fees [from Nawaz Sharif's family] even he would have admitted that Nawaz Sharif should be punished. It is unfortunate that such fool-proof cases take years to be completed."
He added: "The opposition neither has any leadership nor any vision, they are only playing politics to save their money and more than fifty of them will go to jail."

I support the new government but this Information Minister is out of control, his personal attacks are unacceptable, his job is to provide information on daily basis, not accuse the previous government, he’s not a lawyer, not a judge, but he sure uses an important platform to abuse his position.

That is his opinion and everyone has the right to express their opinion. Considering the facts that Nawaz Sharif has already gone to jail, most of the people in Pakistan know that he has considerable possibility going back based on public knowledge of the case evidence.

It looks after short time scenario will be reversed those who are outside will be in jail and those inside will be out.if these old cases against sharif family are under trial why IK is not tried for corruption as his father was also removed from govt job on corruption charges and he is the inheritor of that wealth.

It is mind boggling to see such overdrive by these novice giving their unprofessional & ill thought opinion on a subjudice case. It is apparently true that the information minister is very fond of sitting in front of cameras be it a TV show or a press conference & out of habit unable to assess the suitability of his virolic verbal onslaught on opposition, putting him and his party in a humiliating position in & outside of the Parliament. He is needed to be restrained because PTI so far has suffered uncalled for damage in public relations & with an experienced opposition sitting on the fence willing to cash on such gaffes by member of its team, will for sure add on to its existing difficulties. The portfolio of an information minister is very important venue through which a sitting govt. often projects its achievement & future plans in governess, accordingly, sanity demands that it should not be used as a forum for such debates on non issues to incite others to react against the govt..

Information minister taking too much . He should stay in limit . His job is information minister not a lawyer for PTI. He was the spokes person of past 2 gov Mushraf and zardari and people knows his character. IK should keep away this kind of people otherwise PTI will lose their loyal activist. Let the court decide who is innoncent and who is corrupt and need to send prison.

NAB and anti NS people already consider him as guilty, is he actually guilty that is something which is still to be proved. NAB should have focused on collecting evidences instead of asking the accused to show the evidence. If NAB accuses anyone for having a billion dollars, should the onus that the accused has a billion dollars be on the accused or NAB? Who should establish the money trail, NAB or the accused. Before answering the question put yourself in the shoes of the accused. I am not pro or anti NS, I am simply stating the way the law normally works, irrespective of who the accused is.

@Anti-Corruption_Pakistani very true but it does require a non professional, nonconversant in the intricacies of requirement of law, to come forward & offer his unsolicited opinion on a subjudice case, just to create hype and amusement to the listeners. In effect he is not doing any favor to his ruling party but in effect becoming a cause of discomfort and anxiety for those whose attention at this time should be focused on solving our teething financial issues in hand. He is just acting with an attitude that is remincent of saying to be more loyal than the king, which needs to be circumvented. I being a professional, having no stake in PTI or the others, love my country which has given me everything what I am today & want to see it as a prosperous & progressive country in the region & get nostalgia seeing contrary happening. It is true that being in the opposition in the recent past & he was free to make all kind of noises but now must recognize his responsibility before it is too late

Fawad Chaudhry is His Master's Voice. He echoes what Imran Khan says the night before. Punjab Province's Information Minister, Fayyaz Chohan came out of the same factory line. Fawad track history tells that whichever, party he gate crashed into regretted having him. PMLN are very happy to see him in PTI !

Completely agree with Fawad Chaudhry’s statement. Our courts are too slow working with laws from the old times and shysters like Khawaja Harris who are expert at misusing the faulty system. It is clear as day light that Nawaz and Shahbaz Sharif have committed large scale corruption and misused their public offices to break laws. The cases are being heard for months without decisions - Why?
