LAKKI MARWAT: A team of wildlife department foiled a bid to smuggle red-legged partridges and seized the precious birds from a passenger van here on Sunday.

An official said that the divisional forest officer wildlife, Bannu, Rehmatullah Marwat had received information about the possible attempt of birds smuggling to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that a team headed by range officer Mir Aslam later intercepted a van on Wanda Banochi checkpost and during search seized 18 red-legged partridges from it.

The official said that a fine of Rs 41,000 was received from the carrier after registration of a case against him under the relevant section of Wildlife and Biodiversity Act 2015.

ENMITY ENDED: Two rival families of Mammakhel locality of Naurang town ended their enmity and embraced each other here on Sunday.

The families headed by Hizbullah and Naqeebullah were at loggerheads for the last about 35 years, which had put the law and order situation in the rural area at stake. The feud had claimed the lives of Hasan Khan from one side and Mir Alam Khan from the other.

On the request of area people, local elders, including Pir Masoom Jan Zakori, Shah Sawar Khan, Hashim Khan and Shabeer Khan, took the initiate to end enmity between the two groups. They held several meetings with members of both the sides and convinced them to shun differences in the larger interest of their families and area people. In this connection, a gathering was held in Mammakhel village where members of both the families embraced each other.
