KARACHI: Upcoming trio – Furqan Patel, Hareem Anwar and Maria Tazeem — who have exhibited fine performance so far are in line to finish the fourth Sindh Sports Board (SSB) ranking table tennis tournament on high note as curtain falls on the event at the SSB Sports Complex Nazimabad on Friday.

All the three players have already picked up one title apiece in the competition and have cruised into another final by displaying better acumen.

After capturing the boys U-18 title the other day, Furqan overcome tough resistance from experienced Bilal Tariq before handing him defeat in the best of seven men’s semi-final 4-2. Furqan was home 7-11, 12-10, 12-10, 9-11, 11-8, 11-9.

Furqan will be up against Saim Adnan in the title clash after the latter conjured up 11-4, 7-11, 11-9, 11-3, 13-11 victory over Mohammad Ali in the other semi-final.

Hareem and Maria, who have made their marks by winning girls U-18 and U-15 titles respectively have already set a title clash in the women’s final.

Results:

Men’s singles semi-finals: Saim Adnan bt Mohammad Ali 11-4, 7-11, 11-9, 11-3, 13-11; Furqan Patel bt Bilal Tariq 7-11, 12-10, 12-10, 9-11, 11-8, 11-9.

Friday’s fixtures: Hareem Anwar vs Maria Tazeem women’s final at 5pm, Saim Adnan vs Furqan Patel men’s final at 6pm.
