TAXILA: Four people tested positive for dengue virus on Wednesday, two from Wahdat Colony, one from Ahmed Nagar and one from Asifabad.
According to health authorities, the number of dengue positive patients has risen to seven in October, while the total number of dengue patients who were admitted and treated at provincial health departments has risen to 19, according to official data.
The health department does not hold data on the number of patients treated at private or military hospitals in Taxila and Wah.
Dengue cases have surfaced in areas such as Bhabra, Lalarukh, Ahmed Nagar, Thatta Khalil and Saddat Colony.
Taxila circle anti-dengue team in-charge Mian Israr Ahmed, when contacted, confirmed that the number of dengue patients in the city this season rose to 19.
He said many cases had surfaced due to refusals, and neighbouring houses that refuse fogging results in a higher number of dengue patients in the area.
Deputy District Health Officer Dr Imran Younas said that soon after the dengue cases were confirmed, health teams visited their homes and nearby areas and took the necessary precautions, including fogging and indoor residual spraying.
