RAWALPINDI: Two prominent Kashmiri leaders, Sardar Abdul Qayum Khan and Sardar Mohammad Ibrahim Khan declared yesterday [Oct 13] that the Kashmiri people are determined to liberate their homeland from Indian control whatever the cost.

According to a press release issued here today, they were addressing a public meeting held at Rawal Kot (Azad Kashmir) yesterday. The meeting was jointly arranged by the three parties namely All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, Azad Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference and Liberation League.

Addressing the meeting, the President of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, Sardar Mohammad Ibrahim Khan, said that the people living on this side of the ceasefire line would spare no effort to wrest freedom from India.

Speaking next, the President of the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference said that the accession of the state of Jammu and Kashmir with Pakistan was an article of faith with the Kashmiri people and there could not be two opinions on this issue. However, he criticised the newly promulgated Azad Kashmir Government Act and asked for its repeal. Mr K.H. Khurshid, President of the Liberation League, could not attend the meeting due to indisposition, but had sent a message which was read out at the meeting. In his message, he had extended his full support to the four-point programme of the three parties.
