Mushaira held at Japanese university

TOKYO, Jan 10: A charity show and Mushaira were arranged by Daito Bunka University of Japan in cooperation with the Cultural Promotion Forum of Japan and Pakistan Association of Japan at Daito Bunka University Hall on Dec 22, 2001.

Students of the university paid tributes to Allama Iqbal and read out poems from his collections.

The Mushaira was presided over by Prof Sohail Ahmad Khan. Poets, including Sayyed Manzoor Abbas, Abdul Rahman Siddiqui, Haris Ali Haris, Prof Sohail and Khalid Jamil, recited their poetical works and spoke about the contributions of Allama Iqbal to Urdu culture and philosophy and Islam.

The participants appreciated the efforts of students and professors of the university to help Afghan refugees.
