MUZAFFARGARH: Seven people died and 18 others were injured seriously in a road accident near Adda Ghulam Ali Wala in Mahmood Kot on Friday.

The accident occurred when two vans collided head-on, killing seven people on the spot.

Sources said one van was en route to Multan from Kot Addu while the other was going from Muzaffargarh to Kot Addu and both rammed into each other near Ghulam Ali Wala.

Rescue 1122 and Saddar police reached the spot 15 minutes later.

All the bodies were shifted to the DHQ Hospital, while the injured people were rushed to the Nishtar Hospital, Multan.

Police said the accident occurred due to speeding by both drivers who lost control over their vehicles. One of the drivers, Ghulam Abbas Pahore, also died in the accident.

Besides Pahore, some of those killed were identified as Sabir Chandia, Ghulam Akbar, Basit Leghari and Anwar.

Some of the injured were identified as Imran, Younas, Mukhtiar, Zubair, Yar Muhammad, Asad, Salman, Riaz, Akram, Sajid, Naveed, Samreen, Farhan and Naeem. Two of the deceased and four injured were unidentified.
