LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to drop all such development schemes introduced by the Shahbaz government that focused his personal projection instead of public welfare.

Chairing a meeting here on Wednesday that discussed various aspects of the provincial budget to be presented on Oct 16, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said that such schemes would be dropped in the budget, launched by his predecessor only for his personal projection and the funds saved would be diverted towards public welfare-oriented projects.

“The schemes of the past will be revaluated and the unnecessary ones will be discontinued. The money saved from such schemes will be spent on public welfare and new example will be set by promoting a culture of austerity and simplicity.

He said that no unrealistic development targets would be fixed, while special attention would be given to south Punjab projects.
