LAHORE: A son of land grabber Mansha ‘Bamm’ on Thursday reportedly dodged the police and managed to flee when they intercepted him in Raiwind area.

The police had traced the location of Faisal Mansha by seeking help from law-enforcement agencies.

The police had taken into confidence a relative of Mansha Bamm to trap him, a police official said adding that as per plan he made a call on the cell phone of Mansha asking him to reach a place.

Arrest warrants for Mansha, sons for attack on LDA team

He said instead of reaching there himself, Mansha sent his son to see the caller (his relative) at the previously decided place.

The official said Faisal used another SIM to remain in contact with his relative to dodge the police.

However, the police teams had already been deployed at various positions by setting up pickets.

It was quite shocking that Faisal Mansha encountered with the police at a picket near Lake City Housing Society where they were not expecting his arrival.

On seeing the policemen, he drove his car rashly, hit the police van and managed his escape.

Faisal later abandoned his car at Arrayan Pind and moved away probably by another car which he managed through his relatives or men, the official said. “Efforts are under way to trace the criminals.”

Earlier, an anti-terrorism court issued arrest warrants for Mansha and his three sons in a case registered by Johar Town police on charges of attacking a team of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA).

According to the case FIR, Mansha, his sons Faisal Mansha, Tariq Mansha and Asim Mansha were accused of attacking an LDA team during an anti-encroachment operation in Johar Town area.

The suspects neither appeared before the court nor joined police investigation.

On Thursday, investigating officer told the court that the suspects had gone underground since the Supreme Court ordered a crackdown on land grabbers in Johar Town.

The IO asked the court to issue warrants for the arrest of the suspects. The court accepted the request and issued warrants for the suspects and directed the police to produce them on Oct 10.
