WHILE the Supreme Court and government are working towards a good cause to raise funds for the Diamer-Bhasha dam, it is the need of the hour to build small dams in Wana (South Waziristan Agency) as the level of groundwater has gone dangerously low.
It is feared that the residents of Wana will be left without water in less than half a decade. In the last four years the underground water levels went quite low owing to the lack of rainfall and excessive extraction of water through tube wells for cultivating land.
