THE enumeration process which was conducted by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics with the help of Pakistan Army claimed to have 16 million population in Karachi.
The ruling party of the province – Pakistan People’s Party – along with other parties has already expressed concerns over this figure.
In his maiden visit to Karachi, Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced giving citizenship to those Bengalis and Afghans who have been living for a number of years in Pakistan.
The prime minister’s claim in Karachi was unexpected and gives birth to many questions. If these people were not counted, then what is the actual population of Karachi?
How are these people contributing to the resources and economy of this country? Since Karachi is overly populated, will government settle them to other cities?
