Double standards

ZAFARULLAH Khan of Watan Party submitted a petition in Supreme Court, asking it to convert Nawaz Sharif’s residence as sub jail for him, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (r) Safdar — the three convicts of the Panama case.

Why do people like Zafarullah Khan plead for declaring Sharif’s house a sub jail? Why should he undergo his sentence in his own house? Why not in jail like any other convict in this country?

He has been convicted for securing money through unfair means (commissions and kickbacks), tax evasion, transferring money abroad through illegal means and concealment of assets are the main constituents of money laundering. He betrayed the trust of 220 million people of this country, thus lost his moral ground to be called respectable.

He carried out his crime under cover for nearly three decades. A common man involved in petty crime undergoes long and hard sentence, languishing in jail for years under inhuman conditions, and on other hand, the so-called member of the elite, when caught involved in a crime, tries to hush up the case with influence or money.
