ISLAMABAD: A man allegedly sold his minor daughter to a man, sources told Dawn.

Mother of the girl, a resident of Bhara Kahu, in her complaint lodged with the police, said her husband sold their 11-year-old daughter to a man who married her, sources in the police department said.

After the marriage the girl stayed with the man but then managed to escape and reached her parents’ house.

The woman foiled her husband’s attempts to return their daughter to the man.

Later, the complainant’s ‘husband’ threatened her with dire consequences, forcing to lodge a complaint with the Women police station which registered a case under PPC 370,496 and 506II.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer DSP Safir Bhatti, when contacted, said the girl had returned home and now there was no issue. The police have registered a case, he added. SHO of the Women police station ASI Samina Sarwar, when contacted, confirmed the incident and registration of the case.

However, when asked about details of the case and police action, she said she was in a meeting and disconnected the call.
