KHAR: Local PTI leader Najibullah was injured by gunmen in Sawai area of Mamond tehsil here on Sunday evening.

Officials said Najibullah, a close aide of PTI MNA from Bajaur Gul Zafar Khan, was attacked when he was returning from a nearby market.

They said Najibullah suffered injuries and was immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Khar, where his condition was stated to be out of danger.

The officials said the gunmen fled after the attack.

Admin says probe launched to trace culprits

They said the administration had begun investigation into the incident to know about its reasons and culprits.

An official however suspected that the PTI leader was attacked over a dispute.

MNA Gul Zafar and PTI activists condemned the attack and asked the administration to arrest culprits for strict action.

PROTEST: The residents continued to protest a minor girl’s killing for the second consecutive day here on Monday.

The nine-year-old was brutally killed in Mamond area few days ago with the police suspecting that her relatives are involved in it.

The political and trader organisations staged a rally, which was attended by people from all walks of life in large numbers.

It began on the Bypass Road and ended in the Inayat Kali Bazaar.

Holding placards and banners and shouting slogans against the administration for inefficiency, the protesters demanded the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of culprits.

They said though the administration had made some arrests, the main culprits continued to be at large.

Also in the day, the administration officials led by the assistant commissioner visited the girl’s house in Laghari area and sympathised with her family.

They assured the family of the early arrest and strict punishment of culprits.

MNA Gul Zafar Khan also visited the family and said all-out efforts were being made to bring culprits to justice.
