KARACHI: Major Shabbir Shaheed XI and Major Aziz Bhatti XI moved into the semifinals of the Defence Day Basketball Tournament here at the Armbagh courts on Monday.

In the first match of the day, Maj Shabbir Shaeed XI beat Rashid Minhas Shaheed XI 71-43 with Hamza (18 points) and Hammad Khan (17 points) and Abdullah Khan (11 points) contributing well for the winners.

For the Rashid Minhas Shaheed XI, Usaid Saeed (12 points), Jahangir Khan (10 points) and Zia Saeed (8 points) played well.

In the second match, Maj Aziz Bhatti XI beat Major Akram Shaheed XI 58-38 to enter the semifinals. Syed Bakhtiar (15 points), Mohammad Usama (12 points) and Shameer Zaheer (11 points) were the main scorers for the winners.

For the losing side, Taimur Zaheer (13 points), Abbas Khan (12 points) and Tahir Naqqash (7 points) played well.
