LAHORE: Three people including a child were killed in two road accidents in the city on Sunday.

Abdul Rahim, 32, a fruit seller, and his son Rehan, 10, were on their way to market to buy fruits when a van hit their cart near Sundar Industrial Estate. Both of them suffered critical injuries and were shifted to hospital where they could not survive.

The van driver after leaving the vehicle on the road fled the scene.

A police team reached the spot on information, collected forensic evidence from crime scene and recorded statements of the eyewitnesses.

The family, relatives and locals came on Multan Road to protest against the accident. They blocked the road for many hours and demanded immediate arrest of the absconding driver.

Senior police officers assured the protesters that they would arrest the driver.

In another accident, a motorcyclist was killed while doing a wheelie on Canal Road on Sunday.

Khalid, 28, of Walton Road was doing a wheelie on Canal Road when he lost control over his bike and hit the footpath. He suffered critical injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital where he died.

Police handed over the body to the family after completing legal formalities.
