RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) on Friday failed to complete the process of auction of hoarding and LED advertisement screens in different sites for want of the bidders interest.

RCB called the bidders for GPO Chowk Saddar, Chur Chowk and Tench Bhatta advertisement sites auction. Only GPO Chowk Saddar attracted bidders whereas no buyer turned up for Chur Chowk and Tench Bhatta sites and the RCB had to cancel the bidding process for the two sites.

The highest bid for LED Screen at GPO Chowk Saddar was received at Rs5.8 million.

A senior official of the RCB told Dawn that the bidders were interested in sadder for advertisement as mostly people visited the commercial areas while advertisement on Peshawar Road at Chur Chowk and Tench Bhatta would be of no public interest.

He said that the RCB would call the bidders again for two other sites soon.

He said that the successful bidder would install LED screen at The Mall Plaza near GPO Saddar where the advertisement footages would be played.

“The basic purpose of the LED screen installation on main roads is to earn money for the civic body and also used them for public messages. The screens will end the unnecessary advertisements on the roads and wall chalking,” he said.
