LAHORE: The PML-N has said it is requisitioning the Punjab Assembly session to take up the matter of non-issuance of notification of the opposition leader in the house.

“We are submitting a requisition to the assembly secretariat to convene the session this week to press the speaker for issuance of the notification of Hamza Shahbaz as opposition leader (of the Punjab Assembly),” PML-N MPA and former spokesman for Shahbaz Sharif administration, Malik Muhammad Ahmed told Dawn on Wednesday.

He said there was no legal justification for delaying the notification, alleging it was a deliberate act and in the assembly session the PML-N would raise the issue.

Meanwhile, the PML-N has announced that it would not allow the PTI’s Punjab government to dissolve the local governments on any pretext.

“The PML-N is holding a convention of local body representatives on coming Monday to make a strategy in this regard,” Mr Ahmed said, adding the PTI had indicated that it was going to end the tenure of the local bodies mid-term.
“If this happens it will not be acceptable to us,” he said.
