ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for National Health Services Aamer Mehmood Kiani on Monday sought the World Bank’s help in strengthening the initiative to improve the nutritional status of mothers and children. Mr Kiani was speaking to World Bank Country Director Patchamuthu Illangovan, who called on the minister in his office.

According to a statement, Mr Kiani said improving the nutrition of children and mothers is the government’s top priority and that enhancing the coverage of the Expanded Programme of Immunisation to protect children and mothers from deadly diseases was also high on the agenda.

He asked the World Bank delegation to work closely with the ministry in strengthening the initiative.

The delegation also shared details of assisted programmes in the health sector.
