KARACHI: A man suffering from multiple illnesses for the past several years committed suicide in a Defence Housing Authority home on Saturday, police said.

Ahmed Siddiqi, 55, ended his life inside his home in Defence phase-II, said Defence SHO Aziz Ahmed Shaikh.

The officer added that Mr Siddiqi had been suffering from different diseases for the past 10 years and was under treatment, but he was reportedly fed up with his condition.

The area SHO said that on Saturday he was found hanged from the ceiling fan inside his room. The body was handed over to relatives after fulfilling legal formalities at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

Biker dies in hit-and-run incident

A young motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run incident on the Ayesha Manzil flyover late on Friday night, the Gulberg police said.

They added that the man in his early 20s was riding a motorbike when an unidentified vehicle hit him on the flyover.

He was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body was taken to the Edhi morgue for want of identification after fulfilling legal formalities.
