KASUR: A man died while another suffered serious injuries when a heavy branch of a roadside tree fell on them on Dipalpur Road near Skindarpura on Friday.

According to the Khadian police, Lahore Electric Supply Company officials were trimming the trees to keep them from high transmission wires.

A branch fell on Yaseen and Zulifqar Ali, of Chunian, who were passing by on a motorcycle.

Yaseen, a retired army officer, died at the scene, while Ali suffered multiple injuries.

Rescue 1122 rushed Ali to the Kasur District Headquarters Hospital from where he was referred to Lahore because of his life-threatening injuries.

Police are looking into the matter.

Separately, electrician Muhammad Zahid, of Hinjrai Kalan village, was electrocuted at his workplace. The family refused legal formalities.

WOMAN’S DEATH: A pregnant woman allegedly died due to treatment by an untrained midwife at Sara-i-Mughal village on Friday.

According to police, Falak Sher’s wife Balqees Bibi felt pain in her belly and he took her to midwife Naziran Bibi for treatment.

She died when Balqees took medicine prescribed by the midwife.

The deceased was a mother of five.

Sher submitted an application to the Sara-i-Mughal police for a case against the midwife.

The police sent the body to the Pattoki Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for autopsy.
