DADU: Eight close relatives were killed and four others were injured in a head-on collision between the hi-roof van they were travelling in and a truck near Cadet College Petaro along the Jamshoro-Sehwan section of the Indus Highway on Friday evening.

There were 12 people on board the van who were on their way back home to Memon Goth, Karachi after visiting Lal Shahbaz Qalandar’s shrine, the area police said.

Four of the deceased were identified as Danial Hussain Memon, Abdul Ghani Memon, Mohammed Zubair Memon, Abdul Hameed Memon, Hanif Memon, Mushtaq Jilani, Abdul Ghani Machliwala and Imran. The bodies and injured victims were transported to the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) hospital in Jamshoro.

Police impounded both the vehicles and started a hunt for the truck driver, who escaped after the accident.
