TIMERGARA: The traders community while rejecting taxes in utility bills on Tuesday threatened to observe complete shutter down strike in all districts of Malakand division if the government did not stop taxing the people.

Talking to reporters here, president Anjuman-i-Tajaran Timergara Haji Anwaruddin, general secretary Liaq Zada and others said the government had included service and sale taxes in bills of telephone, electricity and gas. They said Malakand division was a tax-free zone while the previous government had also exempted it from any kind of tax for the next five years.

The traders’ leaders said they would move court in that regard and would also observe shutter down strike across Malakand if the government did not stop imposition of different taxes in utility bills.

BLASPHEMOUS CARTOONS CONDEMNED: The Lower Dir district council on Tuesday demanded of the government to take practical steps for stopping a blasphemy campaign in Holland. The demand was made during the ongoing session of the council through a unanimously passed resolution.

Members from both the treasury and opposition benches strongly condemned the sacrilegious cartoons in some western countries. They also walked out of the council hall to record protest against the sacrilegious cartoons and a film.

They demanded of the federal government to expel the Holland ambassador immediately. The council’s members chanted slogans against the rulers and the cartoonists.
