TAXILA: So far one dengue fever case has been reported in the city but his family shifted him to Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

Besides, a large number of suspected patients have been admitted to private hospitals.

The health authorities confirmed a motorcycle mechanic, a resident of Sarai Khola, tested positive at HFH on Tuesday.

Medical Superintendent (MS) Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Dr Hooria Mohsin told Dawn that the patient was brought to the hospital with symptoms of dengue. He was kept in isolation ward and given treatment but later his family shifted him to HFH where he tested positive.

When contacted deputy district health officer Dr Imran Younas said that soon after confirmation of the dengue patient, health teams visited nearby areas of his house and took necessary precautionary measures including fogging and indoor residual spraying.

He said last year dengue cases started appearing in late summer. He said so far the situation was not alarming to declare emergency.
