KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s nominee for the office of president, Dr Arif Alvi, on Monday said he would like to see development not only in urban centres but rural areas as well and that if he became the president he would aim for a special package for Sindh.

The PTI leader visited the Quaid-i-Azam mausoleum accompanied by Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Qasim Khan Suri. They laid a wreath and offered Fateha at the mazar.

Responding to a question about presidential elections scheduled for Sept 4, Dr Alvi said that he was grateful to the party chief Imran Khan, the PTI and Karachi for their trust in him and that he would accept whatever was destined for him.

Later, Dr Alvi led his party delegation to Kingri House to meet PML-F chief Pir Pagara to muster support of the Grand Democratic Alliance in the presidential elections. Pir Sadruddin Shah Rashdi was also present.

Extending GDA’s full support to Dr Alvi’s candidature, Pir Pagara said that the alliance was part of the PTI government in Centre and being an ally would fully support him in the elections. The two leaders also exchanged views on the emerging political situation in the country and ongoing activities in regards to the presidential contest.

After the meeting, Dr Alvi while speaking to reporters expressed his gratitude to Pir Pagara and GDA for their support. Pir Rashdi said that they were grateful to the PTI delegation for visiting them and that Arif Alvi was a self-made person and a very good human being and his victory was obvious.
