PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Monday appointed former lawmaker Shaukat Yousafzai as the provincial government’s spokesperson.

A notification issued here said the chief minister had appointed Shaukat Yousafzai, former MPA, as the spokesperson of the provincial government with immediate effect.

Mr Yousafzai was elected MPA from PK-23, Shangla; however, the Election Commission of Pakistan ordered re-election in the constituency due to low women turnout in the last month’s elections.

Separately, Mohammad Israr, secretary excise and taxation department, has been transferred and posted as principal secretary to the chief minister.

Akbar Khan, who was holding additional charge of principal secretary, has been relieved of the charge.
