TOBA TEK SINGH: The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) has failed to control tripping, fluctuation and low voltage in electricity supply which is causing a damage to electrical appliances in Kamalia, Pirmahal and Toba Tek Singh.

Rana Amjad Ali of Kamalia and Muhammad Khalid of Pirmahal told this reporter one or two phases of power supply tripped with intervals, damaging a number of refrigerators, water pumps and other appliances in their areas.

A district council member, Rashid Jalal Maseeh, said people had faced great a financial loss in his locality of Mubarakabad as their appliances had been damaged due to low voltages which suddenly dropped down.

Kamalia PTI MNA Riaz Fatyana told this scribe by telephone from Islamabad that he had contacted Fesco’s authorities regarding the public complaints and he was informed by them that a major fault had developed in the main power lines near Yousafwala in Sahiwal district.

Fatyana said he had been assured that the fault would be removed within next couple of days and then there would be no trouble to the consumers regarding low voltage or tripping.

Meanwhile, scores of residents of Mohalla Raj Bibi of Kamalia blocked the roads in the locality over failure of Kamalia Fesco to replace their out-of-order transformer for the last four days. They chanted slogans against Fesco and continued their protest till late night. On Monday, they reached the Fesco complex and also staged a protest demonstration. They dispersed after the Fesco officials held talks with them and assured that transformer would be replaced within 24 hours.

MURDER: A man died and another was injured seriously at Kamalia when two other men opened fire at them over a quarrel on a minor issue in Niazabad locality of Kamalia.

Police said deceased Ijaz Faqeer and his relative Ghulam Fareed, residents of Madina Colony, exchanged harsh words with Abdul Rasheed Dogar and Fateh Muhammad during a discussion. Both Rasheed and Fateh fired at Ijaz and Fareed and injured them seriously. The injured were admitted to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Kamalia where doctors referred them to Faisalabad Allied Hospital. Later, Ijaz succumbed to his injuries while Fareed was also stated to be in critical condition.

THREE DIE ON ROAD: Two young men belonging to Pakpattan died when a bus hit their motorcycle on Toba-Chichawatni road in Kamalia.

Police said both the deceased, Amjad Mansoor and Amin Faiz, were employees at a shop at Pirmahal and they were going to Pakpattan on their motorcycle to celebrate Eidul Azha. When they reached outside Kamalia, a Faisalabad-bound bus coming from Multan hit their motorcycle. As a result, both of them were critically injured and were rushed to THQ Hospital Kamalia where Amjad died. Doctors referred Amin to Faisalabad Allied Hospital where he also died.

Police have impounded the bus but the driver managed to escape from the scene after the accident.

Meanwhile, a medicine supply company salesman was crushed to death by a speeding bus near Rajana bypass road. Police said deceased Umer Draz was getting off the bus when the driver sped the bus away. Umer fell down and came under the rear tyre of the bus. He died on the spot.
