SIALKOT: A PML-N worker was allegedly tortured to death by activists of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf for opposing the party candidate in the July 25 general elections at Chak Baamnaan-Phalora,village of Pasrur tehsil.
According to the FIR (256/18), a local PML-N worker, Imran (30), was allegedly attacked outside his house by seven armed men, including five nominated suspects -- Khalid, Nasir, Zahid, Tariq and Rehman.
The attackers subjected Imran to brutal torture using hockey sticks, clubs and iron rods as a “punishment for supporting the PML-N candidate” in the general elections.
The suspects fled away leaving the victim severely injured near the girls primary school at the village. He later succumbed to his wounds on way to hospital.
Phalora police have registered a case under sections 147, 149 and 302 of the PPC against the suspects on the complaint of the victim’s brother.
Police claim to have arrested two of the nominated suspects, Rehman and Tariq.
The body was handed over to the family of the victim after autopsy.
Later, dozens of locals, including the relatives of the victim, staged a demonstration by placing the dead body on main Badiana-Pasrur-Zafarwal road.
They chanted slogans against the PTI and kept the road blocked for traffic for about two hours. They demanded immediate arrest of the killers.
The police officials negotiated with the protesters and assured them of early arrest of the killers.
On this assurance, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
