THIS is apropos the news ‘NAB orders probe into PIA dance video made by Polish tourist’ (Aug 14).

According to the report, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) believes that the Polish tourist disgraced the national flag by wrapping it around her body. As if we haven’t had enough of moral policing by both state and non-state actors, NAB has decided to jump on the bandwagon.

NAB should realise that if it wants to protect the sanctity of the national flag, its own Kiki Challenge is to perform duties according to its mandate and stem the tide of corruption.

Favouring suspects in plea bargains, arm-twisting of politicians to achieve political goals and the inability to stop corruption seem to be more serious issues that NAB needs to address, but of course, a dance video trumps everything.
