GUJRANWALA: A score of people, including women, blocked on Friday Gujranwala-Sialkot Road in front of the DC office against delay in the registration of their land.

A few weeks ago, assistant sub-registers Zulfiqar Ali Bhoon and Sardar Ahad Dogar were transferred and Mobeen and Khurram Hameed replaced them. Both sub-registers did not take charge for several days which created a backlog putting several applicants in problems.

The successors took charge a few days ago but because of the piles of files and poor security, they refused to work.

This irked the applicants who protested outside the DC office. They demanded that the deputy commissioner take notice of the situation. The deputy commissioner has directed the sub-registrar office to resolve people’s problems.

ACE: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) arrested a secretary of the union council for tampering with record. ACE Director Fareed Ahmad told reporters that Abdul Waheed submitted an application that his sister was married to Asghar Ali who died a few months ago.

The Paijo-ki Union Council secretary tampered with the record and showed his sister a divorced woman. The regional director alleged that a case was registered against the secretary for he was found guilty in an inquiry.

RALLY: Religious parties protested on Friday at anti-Islam films produced in Holland.

Tehreek Labaik and Sunni Ittehad Council activists passed resolutions during Friday prayers demanding that the government end diplomatic relations with Holland.

A rally started from Sheikhupura Morr and ended at Sheranwala Bagh on GT Road where participants chanted slogans against the Holland government and the producers of blasphemous films. Akbar Naqshbandi, Sufi Muhammad Akbar and other condemned the blasphemous movies.

SHOOTING COURSE: The passing out parade of the participants of a sniper shooting course was held at the Police Training School of Farooqabad.

The course was done under the supervision of Additional Punjab Highway Patrol IG Abubakar Khuda Bakhsh. The participants showed their abilities and performed shooting tactics.

OBITUARY: Former Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce president Haji Murad Ali died on Friday. He was a famous industrialist.

He was laid to rest in the compound of Haji Murad Eye Hospital on GT Road. In the final rites, thousands of people were present.
