IN his article ‘The China model’ (Aug 11) Irfan Husain has narrated in detail the recent history of China. He has highlighted both positive and negative aspects of the Chinese revolution which ultimately made China the success story it is today.

Missing from the article was one very important aspect of the Chinese revolution — intolerance of corruption. This saw thousands of high-ranking officials executed for corruption.

Unfortunately, in our country today, leaders are known for corruption. As for education and health in our country, the money allocated is dismally low in a budget which itself is many times lower than what it ought to have been for a country of over 200 million people.

Imran Khan’s election is about the best thing that has happened to Pakistan in decades. Let up hope he and his team prove equal to the challenge.
