GHALANAI: The Khasadar Force recovered 14 kilogrammes of opium from a car and arrested its driver, while Levies personnel seized rockets, fuses and detonators in a separate action here.

The Khasadars were searching vehicles on the main Peshawar-Bajaur Road at Sher Makhano checkpost in Lower Mohmand when they signaled a car to stop coming from Bajaur tribal district.

During search of the vehicle, they recovered opium weighing 14kg and arrested the driver named Gul Rahim, a resident of Tangi area of Charsadda district.

The drug trafficker was shifted to Ekkaghund lockup for further investigations. The car was also impounded.

Separately, on a tip-off, Levies personnel conducted a search operation in Daag Tamnazai area of Pandiali tehsil and recovered four rockets, three fuses, 50 detonators and 50 fuses from a plastic bag.

An FIR was registered against unknown miscreants and further investigations got underway.

Talking to journalists, Assistant Commissioner, Lower Mohmand, Touseef Khalid said that the action against drug traffickers had been intensified on the directives of deputy commissioner Wasif Saeed.

He said first FIR against drug pushers was registered under the Control of Narcotics Substance Act in the tribal district.
