TIMERGARA: The local chapter of Pakistan People’s Party arranged an ‘Azadi’ night at Government Centennial Model High School Timergara on Tuesday night to celebrate the Independence Day.

Hundreds of party workers and youth attended the function, which was addressed by PPP district president Mahmood Zeb and others.

The speakers said that PPP worked for the welfare of the local people whenever it won elections.

They said that dozens of government colleges, schools, link roads and hospitals were established during the PPP government in the past.

Local artists on the occasion presented national songs and got applause from the audience.

Late at night beautiful firecrackers in the air were witnessed on the occasion that entertained the people.

Meanwhile, Dir Hockey Coaching Academy arranged Jashn i Azadi hockey tournament at the ground of Government High School Mian Banda.

Besides hundreds of spectators, Balambat tehsil nazim Imranud Din, Assistant Commissioner Tanveer Khan, TMO Attaullah Khan, former provincial minister Mahmood Zeb Khan, DSPs Fakhr-i-Alam and Farmanullah and president of All Sports Associations Malik Shah Nasim watched the matches.

The final was played between Al-Shabab Hockey Club and Dir Tigers.

The Al-Shabab won the match by 1-0. Imranud Din announced Rs20,000 cash for the organising committee of the tournament. Former provincial minister Mahmood Zeb also spoke on the occasion.
