TIMERGARA: MPA Humayun Khan said here on Tuesday that it was his top priority to end corruption in tendering process for development projects after provision of education and health facilities to the people of the area.

He told this scribe that a huge share of government funds was wasted in malpractices in the tendering process. He said that bribery in development projects could not be abolished owing to loopholes in the system.

The PTI lawmaker said that he was aware of the process and would end the malpractices and irregularities in development sector. He said that the previous government of PTI tried its best to improve education and health sectors but those still needed reforms.

Terms provision of education, health facilities to people top priorities

He said that establishment of Timergara medical college, construction of more schools and colleges, especially for girls, in Lower Dir would be ensured. He said that people had voted for PTI candidates to bring change.

Mr Khan said that construction of Sanam dam was essential as people in his constituency faced shortage of drinking water. He said that the dam would not only irrigate land but would also provide clean drinking water to people.

Meanwhile, the district accounts officer, Sarzamin Khan, retired on Tuesday after serving the department for 39 years. A farewell party in this regard was held at the district accounts office that was attended by the staff, relatives of the retiring official and local elders.

UoM: University of Malakand Vice-chancellor Prof Gul Zaman has said the varsity will not compromise on quality research work.

He stated this while chairing the 46th meeting of Advance Studies and Research Board (ASRB) of the university here the other day.

The meeting examined synopses of 24 cases of MPhil and PhD scholars in different departments and gave approval to them after slight changes.

Prof Zaman said that all available resources would be utilised for standard research and the researchers would be fully facilitated.

He also urged the researchers to select topics for their research which proved beneficial for general public.
