THIS refers to the underground wiring networks in the city. The incident which made me write about this problem took place on July 31 at 3.00am when people in Phase-II, DHA, Karachi, woke up terrified by the sound of an explosion on seventh street.

The intensity of the explosion was such that it carved a deep hole in the middle of the road and the shrapnel and shards from the explosion could be found at quite a long distance from the location, including the rooftops of adjacent houses.

Had this explosion taken place during the day time it could have caused serious accidents and led to casualties.

The authorities should take serious measures to ensure that such incidents do not happen again and repair the road.
