BAHAWALPUR: The main Independence Day function was held at the Dring Stadium on Tuesday.

Commissioner Nayyar Iqbal along with district council Chairman Sheikh Dilshad Qureshi, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ayub Khan and district police chief Dr Muhammad Iqbal performed the flag-hoisting ceremony.

A police contingent, including personnel of Dolphin Force, Elite Force, Rescue 1122 as well as schoolchildren, carried out a march past. Students from various schools sang national songs. The celebrations were rounded off with special prayers for Pakistan.

A function was also arranged at the office of Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry where its president, Malik Ejaz Nazim, hoisted the flag on the building.
