KARACHI: Nishter Club beat Crossover Clifton Club 48-42 in a thrilling opening clash of the Independence Day basketball event which commenced here at Arambagh courts on Tuesday.

Talha Amjad with 23 points was the main scorer for the winners while Mohammad Sher (10) and Agha Ibrahim (8) also played well. Abdul Basit (12), Asim Sameer (10) and Mohammad Omer (8) scored for Crossover.

In another match, Omega Club outclassed Arambagh Club 78-38. Taimur Zaheer (21) and Tahir Naqqash (18) were the outstanding players for Omega Club. For the losing side, Hasan Ali (12) and Asad Ali and Zafar Iqbal (6 points each) fared impressively.

In the day’s other matches, Karachi Basketball club overcame Karachi Youth Club 64-44 and Bounce Club overpowered Usman Club 60-47.

Earlier, GM Sports KPT, Col Baseer Alam inaugurated the tournament in front of a packed house.

The tournament is being held with the collaboration of the Karachi Basketball Association and the PSWA.
