While MPA Mahmood Jan has been nominated for the post of the deputy speaker, according to the media cell of the PTI.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MPA Aurangzaib Nalotha, while chairing the maiden session of the KP Assembly on Monday, announced the elections for the speaker and the deputy speaker to be held on Wednesday.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra had nominated Mr Nalotha to preside over the session. Election for the speaker and the deputy speaker would be held through secret ballot.

The joint opposition in the provincial assembly has decided with consensus that an MPA of the religious alliance of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal would be their candidate to contest election for the post of the Leader of the House.

Similarly, an MPA of the Awami National Party would be the candidate for the post of the speaker, while an MPA of the PML-N will contest election for the post of the deputy speaker.

The joint opposition had not yet finalised the names for the Leader of the House, speaker and deputy speaker till filing of this report on Monday evening.
