MULTAN, Jan 9: The autopsy reports of the two alleged dacoits shot dead by police in a ‘shootout’ on Monday give a dubious shade to the incident.
The police claimed to have shot dead the two near Zia Park when they were fleeing after looting Rs85,000 in cash from Wasa Director Chaudhry Shameem in Income Tax colony.
The post-mortem report revealed there were bruises caused by torture besides bullet injuries on Imran’s body, adding the duration of torture was six hours.
Imran’s brother, Mirza Luqman, also alleged in a press conference on Tuesday the police arrested Imran from Sameejabad on Monday afternoon. He also alleged the police killed two innocent citizens by declaring them dacoits.
The other alleged dacoit had been identified as Amir, resident of Sahiwal, who had come to his relatives in Shah Rukn-i-Alam Colony, A block, for seven days. The police reportedly arrested him on Monday.
TRAINED: The Pest Warning and Quality Control of Pesticides (PWQCP) trained around 40,000 farmers in using pesticides for the safety of their crops from diseases in 2001.
A source in the department stated in a press release issued here on Wednesday.
He said the PWQCP got registered cases against 38 pesticide dealers who were found selling sub-standard medicines.
The source said report conducted in Punjab by the department, forwarded to the government, revealed some 49,000 experiments of cotton, 900 of dhan and 27,000 of sugar cane were conducted for the diagnosis of diseases of crops. — Nouman
