PESHAWAR: The family of a pregnant young woman, who had died earlier in mysterious circumstances, has accused her in-laws of killing her.

The woman aged 20 and belonging to Jaba Duadzai area of the Akbarpura locality of Nowshera district, was married to a local of Shekhan area falling in the limits of the Badabher police station.

A brother of the victim told Dawn that his sister was married some eight months back and she was apparently in first trimester of her pregnancy.

He said they were informed early on Monday about her death.

He said when they reached there, her in-laws were preparing to bury her; however, they did not allow them to do that and took her body home.

He said her body bore torture marks and that her in-laws had killed her.

He said later they took the body to Bhadbher police station where the police referred the body to the Khyber Medical College for postmortem.

An official at the Badabher police station told Dawn that immediately it was not clear whether the woman was killed or had died of natural causes.

He said they would register FIR against anyone whom the family nominated after receiving postmortem report.
